AMES, Iowa – The College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) announced its 2018 preseason watch list for the CFPA National Performer of the Year Trophy, and Iowa State senior quarterback Kyle Kempt is one of 36 players on the list.
A native of Massillon, Ohio, Kempt has picked up numerous preseason accolades, including receiving nominations for the Davey O'Brien Award, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and Manning Award watch lists, respectively.
Kempt went 5-3 as a starter and earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honors in 2017. He broke ISU's single-season completion mark (66.3%) and tossed 15 TDs to just three interceptions in eight games.
The former walk-on enters his final campaign with an eight-game streak of completing a TD pass, tying for the fourth-best string in school history.
