AMES, Iowa – After a dominant performance at the Hawkeye Invitational, the Iowa State men's cross country team remained No. 5 in the USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll this week.
The Cyclones also remain the top-ranked Big 12 team in the national rankings, as well as No. 1 in the Midwest Regional Rankings.
At the Hawkeye Invitational, the ISU runners dusted the field. They posted a perfect score of 15 points to win the team race. In total, seven Cyclones held down the top-seven spots.
Individually, Festus Lagat won the race for the second consecutive season. He posted a 6k time of 18:30.7, finishing just ahead of teammate Dan Curts, who crossed the finish line in 18:31.2.
The Iowa State men continue to gear up for their next competition. They'll next race at the Nuttycombe Invitational on Friday, Sept. 28. Race time is set for 11 a.m. CT.
