• Iowa State overcame 3-for-25 3-point shooting to defeat Northern Illinois, 70-52, last Tuesday night at Hilton Coliseum...the Cyclones trailed by three heading into halftime before outscoring the Huskies 39-18 in the second half.
• ISU held NIU to just 18.2 percent shooting in the second half, while shooting 51.6 percent in the second half.
• Rasir Bolton scored a game-high 17 points and Solomon Young tallied 15 points to lead the Cyclones...Michael Jacobson finished with nine points and 12 rebounds.
• Iowa State improved to 1-1 this season when trailing at the half.

IOWA STATE-SOUTHERN MISS SERIES NOTES
• Iowa State is 3-0 all-time against Southern Miss, including 1-0 at Hilton Coliseum...the Cyclones beat Southern Miss, 69-67, at Hilton Coliseum in the last meeting between the schools in 2000.
• The Cyclones and Golden Eagles met in 1988 in Tokyo in the NCAA Ball Tournament...the Cyclones won the game 74-72 and then beat Bradley the next day to win the tournament title...Victor Alexander, Sam Mack and Elmer Robinson scored 15 points each in that game for the Cyclones, while current USM assistant Clarence Weatherspoon led the way with 19 points.
• Steve Prohm is 1-0 against USM, having defeated the Golden Eagles, 90-81, in double OT in the Great Alaskan Shootout in 2011 when he was coaching at Murray State...this will be his first meeting with USM head coach Jay Ladner.
