WACO, Texas – Iowa State junior Cailie Logue was the wire-to-wire individual champion at the 2019 Big 12 Cross Country Championships. She ran the 6k course at Cottonwood Golf Course in 20:08.2, narrowly holding off Oklahoma State's Taylor Somers for her second-straight Big 12 individual title.
Logue becomes just the fourth Big 12 individual to repeat as the conference champion and is the first in Iowa State history. The Erie, Kan., native is now a three-time All-Big 12 cross country performer.
As a team, the Iowa State women took fourth place with 77 team points. Oklahoma State was the women's champion with 52 team points.
Joining Logue on the podium at the Big 12 Championship was senior Abby Caldwell. Caldwell ran a great race in her final conference championship appearance, posting an eighth-place finish behind a 6k time of 20:52.6. This was Caldwell's second All-Big 12 performance of her career.
Madelynn Hill just missed the podium at the Big 12 Championship. She finished 18th individually with a time of 21:19.7. She was joined by Larkin Chapman in the top-25 with Chapman's 22nd-place performance with her time of 21:32.7.
Iowa State has relied heavily on its freshman class in 2019. Dana Feyen and Janette Schraft finished 31st and 38th, respectively, at their first Big 12 Championships with times of 21:44.2 and 21:59.9.
Karly Ackley and Gwynne Wright rounded out the Cyclones' lineup in Waco. Ackley finished 59th in 22:49.8, while Wright finished 68th in 23:12.0.
The Cyclones will have a bit of a break before continuing their postseason run. Their next race will be the NCAA Midwest Regional meet on Nov. 15 in Stillwater, Okla.
