IRVING, Texas – The Iowa State women's basketball team placed six student-athletes on the 2019 Academic All-Big 12 team. The Cyclones' Meredith Burkhall, Adriana Camber, Bridget Carleton, Lauren Mills, Nia Washington and Madison Wise were named to the Academic All-Big 12 first team.
Carleton made her third appearance on the First-Team as a Kinesiology and health major. She currently leads the Cyclones and the Big 12 Conference with 21.8 points and 8.3 rebounds. Carleton is second in school history with 1,970 career points and is on pace to set the Cyclones' single-season scoring mark as well.
A trio of Cyclones made the team for the second time in their career, as Camber, Burkhall and Washington were honored for their work in the classroom. Camber is a junior business management major and has appeared in all 27 games for ISU this season, while averaging 2.7 points and 1.4 boards per game. Burkhall is a senior child, adult and family services major averaging 5.0 points and 2.7 boards per game. Washington, a junior biology major, has appeared in 15 games for ISU this season averaging 1.1 points and 1.0 assists per contest.
Mills and Wise earned academic honors for the first time in their careers. Mills has appeared in eight games for the Cyclones this season as a biology major. Wise has started all 27 games for Iowa State and is averaging 8.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Wise is a sophomore business major.
Iowa State's six Academic All-Big 12 honorees was second in the Big 12 Conference. First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA.
The Cyclones will be back in action tonight at 6 p.m. when they take on Texas Tech in Lubbock on FSSW.
