AMES, Iowa - Iowa State has signed its second player of the 2019-20 tennis season. The Cyclones will welcome Oumaima Aziz to Ames from Casablanca, Morocco.
"We are very thrilled to have a player like Oumaima join our program," head coach Boomer Saia said. "Ever since I first spoke with Oumaima, I knew I wanted her to be a Cyclone. She is a terrific person and will fit very well with the culture we are building here."
"Oumaima has a great amount of potential and we are excited for her future here."
Aziz is a former singles and doubles finalist at TF Grade B2 in Marrakech. Her career high ITF Junior ranking was No. 181 in the world.
"I chose Iowa State because I fell in love with the university and the city," Aziz said. "I felt so comfortable with Coach Saia and I'm beyond excited to get to campus with my teammates and coaches."
Aziz plans to major in business when she begins classes next fall. She joins Ting-Pei Chang from Taipei City, Taiwan, another top-200 signee in the ITF Junior rankings.
Iowa State takes on No. 6 Texas Friday at the Life Time Fitness in Urbandale, Iowa. First serve for that match is set for 11 a.m.
