The first set was a game of runs, with reach team running off multiple runs of more than three points. However, ISU got to set point first at 24-22. Mizzou held off the two and then got their own, which ISU saw off and then the home team got a third and a fourth for Missouri to survive. Finally, Missouri put it away with a back-row kill at 29-27.
A 7-0 run got Mizzou ahead 7-2 to start the second frame. The Cyclones responded well, tying it back up at 11-1 on a Meegan Hart kill and then getting ahead again at 13-12 on an Avery Rhodes kill. The Cyclones got ahead by three at 16-13, but Mizzou was able to wipe it out and get ahead 18-16.
