AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State volleyball team will be making three appearances on national TV this season, the Big 12 announced on Thursday. A pair of ISU's home matches will hit the national airwaves, while a road match will as well.
The Cyclones' first national TV match comes on Wednesday, Oct. 2 against Kansas, with FSN picking up the broadcast. With the selection, the match time has been moved back half an hour to 7 p.m. The Cyclones swept Kansas in both meetings last season, the first time ISU has swept Kansas since 2011.
The final two matches for ISU on national TV will both be against Baylor and will both feature on ESPNU. The first one will come on Wednesday, Oct. 9 in Ames, with first serve slated for 8 p.m. The selection of the match at Baylor will see the date of the match pushed back a day to Sunday, Nov. 3, with first serve scheduled for 4 p.m. The Bears won both meetings between the two teams last season.
All remaining Iowa State home matches not picked up for national TV will be broadcast live on Cyclones.TV Powered by Mediacom and the Cyclones.TV web player. For more information about Cyclones.TV, click here.
Iowa State will be looking for a return to the NCAA Volleyball Championship in 2019. Despite missing out on NCAAs, the Cyclones still finished the season on a positive note with a run to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) title. The Cyclones return nine letterwinners from last season's team, including 2019 Preseason All-Big 12 right side Eleanor Holthaus and Argentina national team middle blocker Candelaria Herrera.
The Cyclones make their first appearance in Hilton Coliseum on Saturday for the Cardinal & Gold Scrimmage at 1 p.m. ISU will then take on Creighton in an exhibition match in Ames on Friday, Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. Iowa State will open the 2019 season at the Rebel Invitational hosted by Ole Miss, taking on UCF on Friday, Aug. 30.
