AMES, Iowa – Today Iowa State Women's Cross Country head coach, Amy Rudolph, announced the captains of the 2019 Women's Cross Country Team. Junior Cailie Logue and senior Abby Caldwell will captain the women's squad.
"We are excited to announce our co-captains for the 2019 Cross Country season," Rudolph said. "Abby Caldwell and Cailie Logue will be leading the Cyclones this fall. Both ladies are great ambassadors for our sport on and off the course. They are looking forward to guiding our team to another successful year."
During her first two seasons in Ames, Logue has already etched her name into Iowa State history on multiple occasions. Last season, she was the individual champion at both the Big 12 Championships and the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships. She was named the Big 12 Women's Runner of the Year, as well as the USTFCCCA Midwest Region Female Runner of the Year. During her rookie season in Ames, Logue was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year behind All-Big 12 and All-Midwest Region performances. She is also a First Team Academic All-Big 12 performer.
Caldwell enters her final season of eligibility for the Cyclone cross country team. She competed in every event for ISU in 2018, helping Iowa State to both a Big 12 and Midwest Regional championship. Caldwell took 15th at the 2015 Big 12 Championships to earn All-Big 12 recognition. She's battled back from injury to contribute to the Iowa State cross country team. She works hard off the course as well, earning First Team Academic All-Big 12 honors on three occasions.
The 2019 schedule begins on Sept. 6 in Iowa City when the Cyclones take on the field at the Hawkeye Invitational.
