-Iowa State (1-1, 0-0 Big 12) plays host to ULM (1-1, 0-0 Sun Belt) on Saturday in its final non-conference game.
-Iowa State and ULM have met only one other time, a 42-7 victory for the Cyclones in Jack Trice Stadium in 1980. ISU is 2-0 all-time vs. current Sun Belt schools. Â
-Iowa State had its school-record-tying seven-game home-field winning streak snapped on Saturday in an 18-17 loss to No. 19 Iowa.Â
-Close games have been the norm in the last three Iowa State seasons. Iowa State, Oklahoma and Washington are the only "power 5" schools to avoid a loss of over 14 points in the last three seasons. ISU's worst loss since 2017 was a 24-10 setback at Texas in 2018.Â
-The Cyclones' last five games dating back to last season have been decided by a total of 13 points (3-2): Kansas State (W-4), Drake (W-3), Washington State (L-2), UNI (W-3) and Iowa (L-1).Â
-After beginning his ISU tenure at 1-8, head coach Matt Campbell has climbed to the .500 mark (20-20) in his Cyclone coaching career. He is 19-12 in the last 31 games.Â
-The Cyclone defense has been a stingy unit. In their first two games, the Cyclone defenders have only allowed one touchdown in regulation play, tying for second in the nation (0- Wisconsin, 1- Iowa State, 1- Georgia). The lone TD came against Iowa with a drive beginning at ISU's 25-yard line.Â
-In regulation through the first two games, the Cyclone defense is giving up a mere 12.0 points per game.Â
-ISU's defense ranks 10th nationally in rushing defense (73.0) and 11th nationally in yards per rush (2.15).Â
-The Cyclone offense has only one true 3-and-out this season, tying for third nationally. ISU has gained at least 20 yards in 18 of 23 drives this season (UNI, 8/10; Iowa 10/13).Â
-Senior DE JaQuan Bailey needs one sack to become ISU's all-time career sack leader. He is currently tied for first with Shawn Moorehead (2004-06) with 18.5.
-Senior WR Deshaunte Jones leads the nation in receptions per game (9.0). His 14 receptions in the season-opener vs. UNI ties for the most in FBS this year.
Jones has 126 receptions in his career, tying for 10th in school history.Â
-The Cyclones had a player reach 100 yards in receiving in each of their first two games: Jones (126 vs. UNI) and Tarique Milton (144 vs. Iowa). Milton set career bests vs. Iowa with eight catches, 144 yards receiving and longest reception (73-yard TD catch).Â
-Sophomore QB Brock Purdy is seventh nationally in completions per game (27.0) and 16th in the nation in completion percentage (72.0 pct.). In his career, Purdy has completed over 70 percent of his passes in seven of 11 games played.
-Purdy has the best career completion pct. (67.8) in school history and has accounted for 24 of ISU's last 40 TDs in its last 11 games (19 passing, 5 rushing). Purdy has an 8-3 mark as the Cyclone signal-caller.Â
-Junior DB Greg Eisworth is ninth nationally in tackles per game at 11.5. He registered a career-high 15 stops vs. Iowa, the third double-digit tackle game of his career.Â
-Sophomore LB O'Rien Vance has registered a sack in each of his first two games and leads the Big 12 and ranks fifth nationally in sacks per game (1.5).Â
-Senior WR La'Michael Pettway has eight receptions with three of them going for touchdowns to rank 13th nationally in TD receptions.Â
-In its last three games dating back to last season, ISU has outgained each opponent by at least 100 yards at an average of 164.7 yards per game: Washington State (+188), UNI (+201) and Iowa (+105).Â
