Kiptoo Races To Second Victory At Cowboy Jamboree

STILLWATER, Okla. – Iowa State's Wesley Kiptoo cruised to his second victory of the season at the Cowboy Jamboree on Saturday morning. The reigning Big 12 Cross Country Runner of the Week posted an 8k time of 23:34.5 at the OSU Cross Country Course to finish 27 seconds clear of the field. As a team, the Cyclones finished second with 32 team points behind hosts Oklahoma State (23 team points).
In total, ISU had five runners finish in the top-10 individually. Festus Lagat (fourth, 24:10.6), Chad Johnson (eighth, 24:21.1), Milo Greder (ninth, 24:29.2) and Thomas Pollard (10th, 25:29.6), all joined Kiptoo in the top-10.
The Cyclones saw a great performance from Gable Sieperda, who finished just outside the top-10 in 12th, with a time of 24:45.7.
Matthew Meinke (30th) and Jeffery Pedersen (38th) were the next two Cyclone finishers. Meinke crossed the finish line in 25:26.8, followed by Pedersen in 25:40.7.
Jared Schuckman (73rd, 26:28.2) and Nehemia Too (119th, 28:46.8) rounded out the ISU lineup in Stillwater on Saturday morning.
Next Up
The Cyclones will now turn their focus toward the Big 12 Championship on Oct. 30 where ISU will be looking to win its fourth-consecutive Big 12 crown. The conference meet will be held in Lawrence, Kan. at Rim Rock Farm, where the Cardinal and Gold won earlier this season at the Bob Timmons Classic.
