The Lead
No. 12 Iowa State (7-2, 7-1 Big 12), which has clinched at least a share of the Big 12 regular season title for the first time in school history, plays host to West Virgina (5-3, 4-3 Big 12) on Senior Day. ISU's seven league wins is the most in school history and its 30-18 mark in the last four seasons is the best four-year stretch in the modern era (1928-present). A win would clinch Iowa State's first-ever appearance in a conference championship game.Â
Key Storylines
-Today is possibly the final home game for 17 seniors, a group that has produced the most prolific four-year period in school history. It's also the latest game in Jack Trice Stadium history (Dec. 5).Â
-Iowa State has held West Virginia to below 200 yards of total offense in its last two games in the series, both ISU wins.Â
-Iowa State is hoping to clinch its first outright regular season conference title since 1912 and first in the modern era. Â
-Iowa State is 23-12 in conference play in the last four seasons, the second-most wins in the league during that span.Â
-ISU boasts the NCAA's second-leading rusher in Breece Hall (1,260), who has a nation's best eight 100-yard rushing games.Â
-Hall is second nationally in rushing TDs (16) and first nationally with six multi-TD rush games. He's rushed for over 100 yards vs. every Big 12 team in career. Â
-Behind Hall, ISU is second in the Big 12 in rushing offense (195.9) and is 11th nationally in rushing TDs with 23.
