Cancini, Hsieh To Semifinals

STILLWATER, Okla. – Maty Cancini and Christin Hsieh cruised to the semifinals in singles action at the Fall Series Championship hosted by Oklahoma State.

Cancini opened up singles action with a three-set victory over Kansas' Sonia Smagina, disposing of the Jayhawk, 6-3, 6-7, 11-0. In her second match, Cancini beat Oklahoma's Carmen Corley, 4-6, 6-4, 10-4.

Cancini meets Oklahoma State's Bunyawi Thamchaiwat tomorrow in the semis.

Hsieh took care of her first two opponents in flight three to reach the semis. She beat Texas Tech's Olivia Mikkelson, 2-6, 6-3, 10-7, and then beat Kansas State's Ioana Gheorghita, 7-5, 6-1.

Hsieh will face Kansas' Vasiliki Karvouni in the semifinals on Saturday.

The Cyclones finished 2-2 in doubles action on the first day of the tournament.
