IRVING, Texas – Iowa State rookie defensive back Isheem Young was recognized by the Big 12 Conference today by earning Co-Defensive Freshman of the Year accolades.
Young is the third Cyclone to win the award, joining Jason Berryman (2003) and Kamari Cotton-Moya (2014).
The Philadelphia, Pa., native has started seven games in his inaugural season as a Cyclone, leading all Big 12 freshman tacklers with 44.
Young is also tied for the team lead with two forced fumbles.
Young posted seven tackles vs. Oklahoma and West Virginia. His interception in the end zone against the Sooners sealed the victory for the Cyclones.
Against Kansas, Young had four tackles, a TFL, a forced fumble and two PBU.
