IRVING, Texas – Today the Big 12 Conference announced its Fall Scholar-Athletes of the Year. For the second season in-a-row, Cailie Logue was named the Big 12 Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
This marks the third season in-a-row that an ISU women's runner has brought home the award. Logue is the first women's runner in Big 12 history to repeat as the Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Cailie Logue
Logue, the 2019 Iowa State Celia Barquin Arozamena Iowa State Female Athlete of the Year, made Big 12 history at the Conference Championship in 2020. She raced to her third consecutive individual Big 12 title, which had only been done one other time in Big 12 history (Sally Kipyego, Texas Tech). Her winning time of 20:00.5 at Rim Rock Farm was seven seconds clear of the field. Logue also became a four-time All-Big 12 performer to become Iowa State's second four-time All-Conference women's cross country athlete (Perez Rotich).
During the regular season, Logue won individual titles at the Bob Timmons Classic and Cowboy Jamboree. For her career, the All-American now has nine individual victories. She earned Big 12 Runner of the Week honors on both occasions and was named the USTFCCCA Female National Athlete of the Week for her win at the Bob Timmons Classic.
Logue, who is a 3.98 student in Kinesiology, earned Cross Country First Team Academic All-Big 12 honors for the third-straight season. She is also a CoSIDA Academic All-American, as well as USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree.
Big 12 Scholar Athlete of the Year
The Big 12 Conference established its Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award in 2012-13. A recipient is named in each conference-sponsored sport. Every Big 12 institution nominates one individual per sport with the winners selected by a vote of the league head coaches for that sport, who are not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes. Scholar-Athlete of the Year nominees must be a junior or senior (athletic and academic standing), have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher, participate in at least 20 percent of the team's scheduled contests and have a minimum of one year in residence at the institution.
