AMES, Iowa – Texas Tech (18-9, 9-5 Big 12) shot 57.1 percent from the field en route to an 87-57 victory over Iowa State (11-16, 4-10 Big 12) Saturday evening in Hilton Coliseum.
The Red Raiders hit on 72.0 percent (18-25) of their shots in the first half to take control of the game early. Jahmi'us Ramsey led all players with 25 points.
Solomon Young led the Cyclones with 16 points. He made 5-of-6 shots from the field and grabbed five rebounds. Rasir Bolton added 13 points and Michael Jacobson had a team-high 10 rebounds, his fourth double-digit rebounding effort of the season.
How It Happened
Young gave the Cyclones an 18-17 lead with a pair of baskets at the midway point of the first half. The lead was brief, as Ramsey tallied seven points in a 9-0 Red Raider to put the road team ahead, 26-18 with eight minutes left in the first period.
The TTU lead soon ballooned to 22 points (49-27) with under three minutes left in the half.
Iowa State was able to make a slight dent in the lead by ending the half on an 8-2 run to go into the break down 51-35.
By the eight-minute mark of the second half, the Red Raiders increased their lead back to 20 points (71-50) and never let the Cyclones back in it.
Players of Note
Solomon Young scored 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting and grabbed five rebounds. Young is 16-of-20 from the field in his last three home games.
Rasir Bolton tallied his 20th double-figure game of the season with 13 points. He also drained a couple of 3-pointers for his eighth multi-trey game of the season.
