LINCOLN, Neb. – The Iowa State tennis team (7-3) dropped a 5-2 decision Sunday to Nebraska (7-3) at the Dillon Tennis Center, halting its three-match winning streak.
The Huskers opened the match with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to take the early lead.
In singles action, Nebraska clinched the match with Ellie Kuckelman's 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles. Kuckelman's victory followed wins for Nebraska at No. 6 and No. 2 singles, respectively.
Freshman Ting-Pei Chang highlighted the match for the Cyclones by extending her singles winning strek to eight matches with a 7-5, 6-3 win against Chloe Kuckelman at No. 4 singles.
Another first-year Cyclone, Christin Hsieh, earned a hard-fought victory at No. 3 singles. Hsieh rallied after dropping the first set to defeat Isabel Adrover Galle, 5-7, 7-6, 1-0 (6).
Iowa State returns to action Friday at 4 p.m. when it hosts Iowa in an Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series matchup at Life Time Fitness.
