ISU To Produce Digital Elements Instead Of Posters
05.21.2020 | Athletics
AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State Athletics Department will not produce printed posters this fall in light of several factors related to COVID-19 challenges.
The Cyclones will instead create multiple digital assets including wallpapers and screensavers for phones / tablets / computers which will feature various Cyclone athletes.
The new initiative will be implemented for football, soccer and volleyball this fall. A decision on winter and spring sport posters will be made a later date.
In past years, Iowa State has printed 65,000 football posters for distribution and pick-up. More than 40,000 are generally handed out during the Cyclone Tailgate Tour and at the State Fair. In light of the Tailgate Tour being cancelled and uncertainty of the State Fair, athletics department officials made the decision to eliminate the posters for this fall.
Because we are not able to distribute the posters in person, athletics department officials felt it made sense to eliminate the costs associated with printing thousands of posters and avoid significant packaging and postage costs associated with mailing them out to all Cyclone fans who would request them.
