LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Iowa State women's cross country team opened the 2020 season with a near-perfect score at the Bob Timmons Classic. The Cyclones raced to the team title with 16 team points, placing eight runners in the top-nine individually.
Two-time defending Big 12 champ, Cailie Logue, cruised to her seventh-career individual victory. She posted a 5k time of 17:08.4 to finish 42 seconds clear of the field at Rim Rock Farm.
Making her ISU cross country debut, Winrose Chesang finished runner-up to Logue with a time of 17:50.4. Dana Feyen and Janette Schraft were the next Cyclone finishers, taking third and fourth respectively. Feyen ran a 5k time of 17:59.3, followed by Schraft in 18:06.9.
A pack of Cardinal and Gold rounded out the top-10 for ISU. Madelynn Hill (sixth, 18:10.7), Grace Dickell (seventh, 18:11.4), Larkin Chapman (eighth, 18:11.6) and Brenna Cohoon (ninth, 18:12.0) all crossed the finish line within 1.3 seconds of each other.
Alexis Gourrier capped off the ISU lineup in Lawrence, taking 19th individually in 19:37.3.

The Cyclones will rest up next weekend as they prepare for the regular season finale at the Gan Creek Classic on Saturday, Oct. 3 in Columbia, Mo.
