"Oby is a tremendously talented player and we are very excited to welcome her to the Cyclone tennis program," Saia said. "From the moment I first spoke with Oby, I knew she would be a great fit for our program. She will bring a wealth of experience to our team and make a positive impact on our program. I want to thank Oby and her family for trusting us to help her develop her tennis."
Kajuru, a native of Tokyo, Japan, joins the team after posting a career-best WTA Ranking of 673. Her ITF career-high singles ranking is 63.
"When I watched videos of the Cyclone tennis team it made me want to come to Iowa State and join the program," Kajuru said. "I am looking forward to training and improving my tennis with my future teammates!"
The Cyclones open the spring season Jan. 22 against South Dakota at Life Time Fitness in Urbandale, Iowa.
