MADISON, Wis. – The Iowa State women's cross country team finished ninth in a loaded Nuttycombe Invitational field in Madison, Wis., on Friday afternoon. The No. 22 Cyclones – among 18 nationally ranked teams at the meet – surged late led by Cailie Logue's seventh-place finish.
Logue, fresh off an individual title at the Roy Griak Invitational, was in 55th place at the race's 2,000-meter mark but quickly moved her way up the pack and into the top 10. The senior clocked a time of 20:10.7 in the seventh-place finish.
Ashley Tutt, another Cyclone senior, was a key piece to ISU's move into the top 10 of the team standings. Tutt, a transfer from Northern Illinois, moved up 20 spots over the race's final 2,000 meters to finish 37th in 20:45.8. Dana Feyen (51st – 20:55.6), Winrose Chesang (104th – 21:19.9) and Madelynn Hill (109th – 21:21.3) rounded out the Cyclone scoring effort.
The remaining Cyclone lineup in the Women's 6k Championship race was Janette Schraft (139th – 21:33.4), Brenna Cohoon (159th – 21:43.7) and Grace Dickel (207th – 22:13.5).
A pair of Cyclones also ran in the women's "B" race, with Riley Beach finishing 64th in 23:00.0 and Sarah Murrow in 66th with a time of 23:03.6.
