OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Iowa State senior quarterback Brock Purdy is one of 30 players in FBS selected as a candidate for the 2021 Senior CLASS Award.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I FBS senior or graduate student and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists later in the season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition.
Purdy has been a winner on the field and off the field.
The Gilbert, Ariz., native, who is in his fourth season as a starter, has set virtually every passing record in Iowa State history. He's a three-time All-Big 12 recipient, including earning first team accolades in 2020.
Purdy owns or shares 29 school records in his tremendous career, but his biggest accomplishment is his impact on winning.
He has the most QB wins in Iowa State history (26) and is 13-1 as ISU's starting QB in Big 12 games played in Jack Trice Stadium.
A two-time team captain, Purdy is one of the Cyclones' top leaders. He's been a member of the team's leadership council the past three seasons and has a vibrant resume of community service.
Purdy has accumulated numerous hours of community outreach programs, including Cyclone Tailgate Tour, FCA Upward Sports Camp, Victory Day, hospital visits, Boys and Girls Club and Night to Shine.
A two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection, Purdy was a 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-American (second team), maintaining a 3.66 GPA in communication studies.
