KEY STORYLINES
- Iowa State and Oregon State will face off for the second time in the last three seasons ... last season was supposed to feature the return trip of a home-and-home that started in 2019, but COVID altered the non-conference schedule.
- T.J. Otzelberger won his first game as the Cyclone head coach on Tuesday against Kennesaw State ... it was the 100th win of his coaching career.
- Iowa State started five newcomers in the season opener, joining Georgia as the only power conference schools to do so ... Cyclone newcomers scored 65 of the 84 points.
- The Cyclones were paced by Gabe Kalscheur (19) and Izaiah Brockington (18) ... the pair drew 15 fouls and attempted 18 free throws, making 13.
- Tyrese Hunter had a stellar debut for the Cyclones, finishing with 11 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals in 20 minutes ... he was one of three players nationally on opening night with a line of 11-6-5-4 ... only 19 times since 1996-97 has a player had that stat line in 20 minutes or less.
- ISU has three players (Brockington, Hunter, Kalscheur) with a Points-Assists-Rebounds (PAR) per game of 20 or better.
- ISU's bench chipped in 30 points, led by 11 from Caleb Grill and 10 from Tre Jackson ... George Conditt IV added nine points as ISU's bench shot 54.5 percent from the field.
- Grill's double-digit performance against Kennesaw State was his first as a Cyclone.
- Iowa State's effective field goal percentage of 60.8 percent ranks among the nation's top 25 teams.

ISU VERSUS OREGON STATE
- The Cyclones and Beavers will tangle for the fourth time ... ISU leads 2-1, but Oregon State won the last meeting in 2019.
- This is the second part of a home-and-home series that was originally scheduled for last season until Covid-19 altered the schedule.
- In the 2019 meeting in Corvallis, ISU rallied in the second half to take a one-point lead with just 2:04 remaining, but the Cyclones scored just one point the rest of the way ... George Conditt was one of three Cyclones in double figures with 14 points while adding six boards and matching his career high with five blocks ... OSU was led by Tres Tinkle's 27 points.
- ISU's Tristan Enaruna was a high school teammate of Oregon State's Tre' Williams at Wasatch Academy during the 2018-19 season (team went 26-4).
- Cyclone forward Aljaž Kunc played OSU four times while at Washington State ... he was held scoreless first three times, but scored 12 points in last December's meeting.
