AMES, Iowa – Iowa State cross country/track & field star Cailie Logue has been named one of three finalists for the Class of 2022 Honda Sport Award for Cross Country, the Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) announced on Monday.
Logue earned her spot as a finalist after an outstanding finish to her Iowa State cross country career at the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Nov. 20, finishing fourth and earning the fourth All-American honor of her cross country/track and field career. Logue's season saw her pick up a pair of wins at the Roy Griak Invitational and NCAA Midwest Regional, along with second place at the Big 12 Championships. In her career, Logue has earned All-Big 12 XC honors five times and All-Midwest Region for XC four times. She was also named the USTFCCCA Midwest Region Runner of the Year for a third time in her career.
Across her track and field and cross country career, Logue has picked up four All-America honors and 10 Big 12 titles. In addition to her outstanding performances in competition, she has been a star in the classroom, earning Academic All-Big 12 First Team six times, Big 12 Cross Country Women's Scholar-Athlete of the Year twice and is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American.
Iowa State does have a history with the Honda Award. Betsy Saina won the 2012 Cross Country Honda Award after claiming the NCAA title, while in 2010 Lisa Koll won it for track and field and was one of the three finalists for the Honda Cup, awarded across all NCAA women's sports.
