AMES, Iowa - No. 9 Iowa State closes out 2021 hosting Chicago State on Tuesday at Hilton Coliseum at 6 p.m.. The Cyclones are inside the AP Top 10 for the first time since December of the 2015-16 season.

KEY STORYLINES
- T.J. Otzelberger is off to the best start of any first-year head coach in school history at 11-0 ... his 11-0 start is the second-best in Big 12 history among first-year coaches.
- As of Monday, Iowa State is one of six undefeated teams remaining in the nation ... the Cyclones already have nine more wins than they did last season.
- The Cyclones are 11-0 for just the second time in school history (2013-14) and this is just the third 11-game winning streak the program has ever had.
- ISU has one of the nation's top defenses, allowing just 56.8 points per game and holding opponents to 37.7 percent shooting from the field and 25.5 percent behind the arc ... its last six opponents have all scored 64 points or less, with seven of 11 opponents at that mark ... no opponent has shot better than 44 percent this season.
- The Cyclones have already snapped losing streaks of 18-straight games overall, eight home games, 25 games against power conference opponents, 28 games away from Hilton Coliseum, 25 games in true road contests and 19 games to nationally ranked opponents.
- In the last six games, four different Cyclones have led the team in scoring ... ISU has only had the same leading scorer in back-to-back games once.
- Caleb Grill led the Cyclones against Southeastern Louisiana, scoring 20 points on 6-of-10 3-point shooting ... the six threes are the most in a game by a Big 12 player this season.
- Izaiah Brockington recorded his fifth double-double of the season against SLU, tallying 17 points and 11 boards ... he has the most double-doubles in a season by a Cyclone since the 2017-18 season (Cam Lard, 8; Nick Weiler-Babb, 7).
LAST TIME OUT
- Iowa State used a 52-point second half to roll past Southeastern Louisiana on its way to an 11th-straight win to start the season ... Caleb Grill (20 points) and Aljaz Kunc (13) scored 33 points off the bench, while Izaiah Brockington recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 boards ... the Cyclones shot a blistering 76.9 percent from the field in the second half, making 20-of-26 shots ... the Cyclones were 10-for-23 behind the arc, with Grill making 6-of-10 long distance shots ... Kunc was 3-for-3 from long range.
ISU VERSUS CHICAGO STATE
- The Cyclones host the Cougars for the ninth meeting in a series that dates back to 1972 ... ISU leads the series, 8-0 ... in the first meeting in the series, Cyclone radio analyst Eric Heft scored 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting.
- The last time the teams met, in 2015, Jameel McKay poured in a career-high 25 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the Cyclones to the 106-64 win.
- Last year's game against Chicago State was canceled due to the Cougars having an insufficient number of players available to play ... CSU later canceled its season.
