Kiptoo Named USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week

AMES, Iowa - Another dominant performance on the cross country course has seen Wesley Kiptoo named the Division I National Athlete of the Week by the USTFCCCA on Wednesday. This is Kiptoo's second win as a Cyclone, the other coming after his win at the Cowboy Jamboree in the fall, and his sixth across his collegiate career (the other four at Colby Junior College).

At the FSU Winter XC Classic on Friday, Kiptoo was in total control, picking up a wire-to-wire victory during the Cyclones' resumption of the cross country campaign. The junior from Marakwet, Kenya dominated the competition with his 8K run of the course at Apalachee Regional Park coming in a new course record of 22:48.8, just under 15 seconds ahead of the field and 35 seconds better than the previous course record.

The Big 12 XC champion, Kiptoo remains undefeated in his four cross country competitions as a Cyclone. In addition, he has gotten his track and field career in Cardinal and Gold off to a strong start, taking down ISU's school record indoors at 3,000m and anchoring for the distance medley relay and outdoors at 10,000 meters.
