TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Iowa State Big 12 Champ, Wesley Kiptoo, continued his dominance on Friday morning at the FSU Winter XC Classic. Kiptoo won the men's 8k with a time of 22:48.8, which was over 15 seconds clear of the field. It also broke the previous course record at Apalachee Regional Park by 35 seconds.
Kiptoo's championship performance anchored a runner-up team finish by the Cyclones. No. 6 Iowa State finished second in a field of 20 teams that was stacked with some of the nation's top talent.
The Cyclones saw top-20 finishes from a pair of veterans in Thomas Pollard and Mitchell Day. Pollard finished 14th with a time of 23:52.2, followed by Day in 17th in 23:56.2.
Next to finish for the Cardinal and Gold were Festus Lagat and Milo Greder. Lagat crossed the finish line in 24:14.4, which was good for a 32nd-place finish. Greder took 38th individually behind an 8k time of 24:17.9.
Chad Johnson finished 41st in 24:21.3. Gable Sieperda rounded out the ISU finishers with a time of 25:09.1.
After being sidelined at the end of the fall season with an injury, Nehemia Too was back in action at the FSU Winter XC Classic. He finished 11th in the men's gold 8k with a time of 25:21.7.
