AMES, Iowa – A number of former Cyclone stars on the gridiron will test in front of NFL scouts at Iowa State's Pro Day on March 23.
This year's departing players include: Landen Akers, JaQuan Bailey, Kene Nwangwu, Dylan Soehner and Lawrence White IV.
Five former Cyclones who were unable to compete in a Pro Day last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic are also competing: Jamahl Johnson, Marcel Spears Jr., Amechie Walker, Deshaunte Jones and Braxton Lewis.
The NFL announced in January of the cancellation of the 2021 NFL Combine. Soehner, a two-time Honorable Mention All-Big 12 tight end, earned an invitation to the Combine, which will be done remotely at competitors' on-campus Pro Days.
Bailey and Nwangwu had All-America seasons for the Cyclones in 2020. Bailey, who was a First Team All-American defensive end by the FWAA, ended his career as ISU's all-time career leader in sacks (25.5) and TFL (44.5).
Nwangwu was a Fourth Team All-American kick returner by Phil Steele. He ended his brilliant career as the school's greatest kickoff returner, averaging 26.8 yards per return.
