Cyclones Set For Three-Game Series At Texas Tech

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State softball team hits the road this weekend for a pivotal three-game series vs. Texas Tech at Rocky Johnson Field in Lubbock. The Cyclones and Red Raiders are separated by just one game in the Big 12 standings. All of this weekend's games will be televised on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.

FROM THE NOTEBOOK
- Iowa State is 21-38 all-time vs. Texas Tech. The Red Raiders won the 2019 series in Ames, two games to one.
-The Cyclones are coming of an 8-0 run-rule victory over Kansas City on Tuesday. It was ISU's first win via run rule since March 19 vs. Saint Louis (11-2).
-Game one on Friday in Lubbock will be the Cyclones' first road conference game since April 3 (at Oklahoma State).
-Iowa State enters this weekend's series in Lubbock with a record of 26-18 on the season. ISU's .591 winning percentage is on pace to be the program's second-best since 1989.
-Junior Mikayla Ramos hit Iowa State's first grand slam of the season, in the 8-0 victory over Kansas City.
-As a team, Iowa State is T-No. 10 nationally in doubles with 66 on the season.
-Sami Williams is the NCAA's active career leader in three statistical categories (Hits - 316, Doubles - 77, Total bases – 601). Williams' 77 rank No. 5 in NCAA DI softball history, and are the most ever by a player from the Big 12 Conference
-Williams, a finalist for the 2021 Senior CLASS Award, holds ISU's all-time records for hits (316), doubles (77), home runs (64), RBI (175), runs scored (199), games played (244) and at-bats (805).
-Ellie Spelhaug surrendered just two hits in her complete game shutout on Tuesday vs. Kansas City. It was ISU's 3rd shutout of the year.
-Iowa State currently boasts two of the top 20 hits leaders in the NCAA this season. Sami Williams is No. 4 (66) and Carli Spelhaug is T-No. 20 (55). The Cyclones are one of just three schools nationally with multiple players among the top 20 (Oklahoma & Missouri).
-Iowa State has hit 53 home runs this season, setting a new single-season school record. The program's single-season home run record has been set in each of Jamie Pinkerton's three full seasons as Iowa State's head coach (2018 - 45, 2019 - 48, 2021 - 52).
