Junior infielder Kasey Simpson hit her first homer of the season in the top of the second on a solo shot to left center field. Simpson is now the 11th different Cyclone to homer this season.
Iowa State churned out another run in the top of the third to extend the lead to 4-1. Ochoa tallied a one-out double to center field, followed by a Kali Gose RBI single up the middle, allowing the speedy Ochoa to race home.
