AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State volleyball program made another addition to its squad for the 2021 season, as head coach Christy Johnson-Lynch announced that defensive specialist/libero Paulina Krześlak will join the team for the 2021 season. A native of Tomaszów Mazowiecki, Poland, Krześlak will be a freshman with four seasons of eligibility.
"Paulina can play the whole game at a very high level," Johnson-Lynch said. "She has played libero for various teams in Poland, and even at 5-6 played OH for her youth national team because she was such a smart hitter with high volleyball IQ. She's got a tough jump-top spin serve and can run points at the service line. I really like Paulina's knack for passing the ball to target, she has a really smooth and simple platform. She is also fast and can run down tough off-speed shots. We are really excited about our passing and defensive potential with Paulina added to the mix."
Krześlak brings a strong club background over from Poland, as just concluded playing for Grupa Azoty Roleski PWSZ Tarnów, playing at libero in 24 of their 26 league matches this season and helping PWSZ Tarnów finish sixth in the league.
She also had senior-level experience playing at Łaskovia Łask during the 2019-20 season, while also playing for Łask's U20 team that season. Prior to that, Krześlak began her club career at her hometown club MUKS Dargfil Tomaszów Mazowiecki, playing for the junior teams up to the U20 squad there.
Krześlak also has experience with Poland's Junior National Teams, having been selected for the 2016 EEVZA Junior Championships.
