No. 7 Iowa State (0-0, 0-0 Big 12) begins the 2021 season playing host to FCS power UNI (0-0, 0-0 MVC) Saturday on MidAmerican Energy Field at Jack Trice Stadium. Iowa State is ranked in the AP preseason poll (No. 7) for the third-straight season. The Cyclones were picked second in the Big 12 Coaches preseason poll. UNI, ranked 21st in the preseason FCS poll, was picked to finish fifth in the MVC preseason poll. ISU owns the all-time series lead at 23-6-3.Â

-Iowa State is coming off one of its most successful seasons in 2020, tying the school-record for wins (9), winning its first New Year's Six Bowl (PlayStation Fiesta Bowl, Oregon, 34-17) and finishing the season ranked in the AP Top 10 (No. 9) for the first time in school history.Â
-ISU returns 10 starters on offense and nine on defense.Â
