AMES, Iowa – Iowa State senior tight end Charlie Kolar is a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, which is annually bestowed by the National Football Foundation to the nation's top football scholar-athlete.
A native of Norman, Okla., Kolar is a two-time All-American and two-time Academic All-American by CoSIDA. The senior earned his Iowa State degree in mechanical engineering while maintaining a 3.99 GPA.
Kolar is the greatest tight end in school history. The two-time All-Big 12 first-team selection has the most career receptions (119), receiving yards (1,599) and touchdown catches (18) by a tight end in school history.
His career receiving yard total ranks 10th and career touchdown tally ties for third overall in school history.
Kolar, who was one of three finalists for the Mackey Award in 2020, has caught a pass in 27-straight games, the fourth-longest streak in school history. He's recorded 13 catches for 174 yards and a touchdown on the year.
