AMES, Iowa – Iowa State (10-7, 2-2 Big 12) hosts West Virginia (6-11, 0-5 Big 12) Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. as teams will recognize breast cancer awareness.
Ticket promotions include $3 reserved tickets at this link. Fans will be given pink grocery bags along with "My Hero Is" signs. Students will be given pink wristbands and tank tops.
There will also be opportunities for students to win $100 gift cards to Target, Starbucks and Chick-Fil-A.
The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT
Iowa State picked up their 10th season victory against Kansas in four sets.
Eleanor Holthaus totaled 11 kills and 10 digs for her third-straight double-double while tallying over 800 career digs. Holthaus is one kill away from notching the fifth-most in program history outright, currently holding 1,334. The fifth-year senior also moved into a tie for both the ninth-most block assists in ISU history (296) and sixth-most sets played (447).
Alexis Engelbrecht and Solei Thomas also notched double-digit kills with 11 versus Kansas. Engelbrecht set a career high with the mark and Thomas now totals 895 on her career. Thomas recorded the 45th match of her career with 10 or more.
Brooke Stonestreet went out to post her fifth 20-plus dig performance of the season with 21. Five ties the highest match total by any player in the league.
Maya Duckworth earned Big 12 Rookie of the Week with a stat line of 12 digs, eight kills, five aces and two block assists. Duckworth joined Stonestreet as a Cyclone to tally five aces in a match, while Iowa State is one of two schools in the conference to have two players hit the mark.
WEST VIRGINIA
In conference action, WVU has met Texas Tech, TCU, Oklahoma, Kansas State and Baylor. The Mountaineers took Texas Tech and TCU to five sets but dropped the matches. West Virginia currently ranks third in the conference with 1.51 aces per set. Adrien Ell ranks in the top 10 of Big 12 rankings in kills and points, leading WVU with 3.13 kills per set and 3.79 points per set.
Iowa State leads the all-time series 19-4 and holds a record of 9-1 when playing at home. Last season, the series was split with both a win and a loss in four sets.
