MADISON, Wisconsin – No. 11 Iowa State battled the strongest regular season field of the men's cross country season at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on Friday. The Cyclones battled to a 22nd place finish in the team standings, finishing with 543 points.
A pair of Cyclones battled into the top-60 individually, with Ezekiel Rop leading the ISU contingent in 55th in 23:48.7, with Gable Sieperda close behind in 58th in 23:49.2. Rop's time was an eight-second improvement on his mark from the Nuttycombe last season.
Chad Johnson was another Cyclone who continued to show growth compared to last season, with his 113th place effort of 24:08.7 being over 10 seconds faster than his mark last year in Madison. Titus Winders was the fourth Cyclone across and the biggest mover in the final third of the race for ISU, moving up 29 places in the final 2K to finish 144th in 24:21.5. Timothy Sindt rounded out the Iowa State scoring contingent in 180th in 24:36.8.
In the 'B' race, Kelvin Bungei impressed with a 28th-place effort in 24:36.6.
