Rus A Burlsworth Trophy Nominee

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State senior tight end Jared Rus is a nominee for the Burlsworth Trophy, given annually to the nation's best football player who began his career as a walk-on.
Rus, an Eldridge, Iowa, native, has made 12 career starts for the Cyclones at tight end after coming to the team as a walk-on linebacker.
In 2021, Rus was an All-Big 12 First-Team selection. He served as a key performer on ISU's power package formation in addition to catching seven passes. In his career, Rus has 12 catches.
He helped Breece Hall to earn All-American accolades after leading the Big 12 and finishing sixth nationally in rushing yards per game (122.7) in 2021.
Rus is a three-time Academic All-Big 12 First-Team honoree.
