AMES, Iowa – Iowa State's Dana Feyen has been named the 2022 Big 12 Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the conference announced on Thursday. Feyen's claiming of the honor marks the fifth-straight season that Iowa State women's cross country has earned the Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor, with Cailie Logue having claimed the previous three and Kelly Naumann earning the honor in 2018.
Feyen, a senior in the Kinesiology and Health program with a 4.00 cumulative GPA, has been outstanding in competition along with the classroom. In competition, Feyen is a three-time All-Big 12 and two-time USTFCCCA All-Midwest Region honoree in cross country. She qualified as an individual for the NCAA Cross Country Championships back in November. In track and field, Feyen was the Big 12 champion in the 5,000-meter run in May and just missed out on making the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 10,000 meters by one spot.
In the classroom, Feyen has been Academic All-Big 12 First Team five times across cross country and track and field, is a three-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree and has been on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll every semester of her time at Iowa State.
