KEY STORYLINES
- Iowa State improved to 17-9 overall with a win at TCU Tuesday evening ... ISU is +15 in the win column this season compared to last, the second-best improvement in school history behind only the 1999-2000 team (+17) ... the Cyclones, along with Towson, own the biggest turnaround in the nation.
- Iowa State has eight Quad 1 victories this season, one of just five teams that can claim that many.
- The Cyclones have already snapped losing streaks of 18-straight games overall, eight home games, 25 games against power conference opponents, 28 games away from Hilton Coliseum, 25 games in true road contests, 24 games to Big 12 opponents, 19 games to nationally ranked opponents and 24 conference road games.
- Izaiah Brockington continues to play like one of the nations elite players ... he was named to the Jerry West Award Top 10 ... in the last two games, Brockington has averaged 23.5 points while shooting 50 percent from the field and making 4-of-6 3-point attempts ... he has reached double figures in a career-best nine consecutive games.
- Tyrese Hunter, a member of the Naismith Men's Defensive Player of the Year Watch List, has a team-high 49 steals, just two shy of entering the top-5 all-time for ISU freshmen.
- Iowa State will wear warmup shirts recognizing John Crawford, the school's first black basketball player ... Crawford played at ISU from 1955-58, scoring nearly 1,000 points and helping the Cyclones to the 1955 Big Seven Holiday Tournament title ... he was on the 1956-57 team that upset No. 1 Kansas and Wilt Chamberlain and in 2006 was named to the Iowa State Athletics Hall of Fame.
LAST TIME OUT
- Iowa State picked up a big road win Tuesday night when it rallied from a six-point deficit in the second half to beat TCU, 54-51, in Fort Worth ... ISU got 20 points from Brockington and 15 from Hunter, while Gabe Kalscheur went 4-of-6 from the field in the second half and finished with nine points ... the Cyclones held Mike Miles to three points on 0-for-8 shooting ... as a team, TCU shot just 36.4 percent ... ISU had just eight turnovers.
ISU VERSUS OKLAHOMA
- The Cyclones face the Sooners for the 213th time overall and the 93rd time in Ames... OU owns a 121-91 lead in the all-time series, including wins in five straight.
- Prior to OU's five-game winning streak, ISU had won six of the previous seven meetings.
- The Cyclones have won nine of the last 10 games played at Hilton Coliseum ... last season, OU won 66-56 in Ames.
- OU won the first meeting this season, 79-66, in Norman ... the Cyclones led by as many as 11 points in the second half before OU rallied ... Brockington and Hunter scored 20 points and Tre Jackson added 12 points for ISU, but the rest of the team scored just 14 points ... ISU attempted just one free throw, missing the lone attempt.
- Tre Jackson has averaged 7.8 points in six career outings against OU ... he's 15-for-31 behind the arc against the Sooners.
- ISU is 395-618 against teams currently in the Big 12 Conference.
- Iowa State assistant coach Daniyal Robinson worked with Oklahoma head coach Porter Moser at multiple stops ... from 2000-03, Robinson was an administrative assistant at Arkansas-Little Rock ... he was then an assistant coach for Moser from 2003-07 at Illinois State and then an assistant at Loyola (Chicago) from 2013-15.
- OU Director of Video Operations and Player Development Clayton Custer played at Iowa State in 2014-15 before transferring to Loyola (Chicago).
