MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota – No. 26 Iowa State continued its season with an eighth place team finish at the Roy Griak Invitational on Friday morning. The Cyclones placed their five scoring competitors in the top-55 on the day, finishing with 193 points.
The Cyclones have plenty of reason for optimism, with a strong collection of times being posted compared to last season's Griak performances. Leading the way for the Cyclones was Madelynn Hill, who check in at 18th place in the individual standings at 21:18.8, dropping 26 seconds off her time from the 2021 Griak Invitational. Dana Feyen was 22nd in 21:23.3, a 22-seconds improvement from last year.
Janette Schraft was the third Cyclone across the line, moving up five spots in the final 1,000m to cross 45th in 21:49.9, a 10-second improvement off last season. Brenna Cohoon was 53rd in 21:58.3 (a 20-second improvement on her 2021 Griak time) and Kiki Connell wrapped up the scoring quintet in 55th in 21:59.1.
Taylor Briggs' 76th place run in 22:15.5 was a 53-second improvement on her effort at the Griak Invitational last season. Freshman Ashlyn Keeney once again displayed a strong finish, going 3:51.8 in the last 1,000m (best among the Cyclones) to move up 10 spots and finish 102nd in 22:45.6.

The No. 9 Iowa State men's squad will be back in action next Friday at the Gans Creek Classic, hosted by Missouri. The Cyclone women return to the course on Oct. 14 at the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational.
