No. 15 Iowa State returns to Hilton Coliseum on Wednesday night for a matchup with Kansas State, tip slated for 6:30 p.m. The Cyclones will be looking to bounce back after a tough 82-79Â setback at No. 17 Oklahoma on Sunday, which saw the Cyclones lose Stephanie Soares for the season due to injury.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Overall: KSU leads 53-46
In Ames:Â ISU leads 26-18
Fennelly vs. Kansas State:Â 38-21
FOUR THINGS
6 – Wins needed by head coach Bill Fennelly to reach 750 for his career. Of those 750, 578 have come during his tenure at Iowa State (the other 166 at Toledo).
10 – Rebounds needed by Ashley Joens to become the Cyclones' all-time leader in rebounds. The school record of 1,209 is held by Angie Welle (1999-02).
100 – Kansas State is Iowa State's most frequent opponent in program history, and the two teams will meet for the 100th time on Wednesday. The next-highest on the list is the 96 meetings between Iowa State and Kansas.
875 – The Cyclones have made at least one 3-point field goal in an NCAA-record 875 consecutive games, a streak which encapsulates the entirety of the Bill Fennelly Era at Iowa State.
WE LOVE YOUÂ STEPH!
The Cyclones suffered a big setback on Monday when it was announced that forward/center Stephanie Soares would miss the remainder of the 2022-23 season after tearing the ACL in her left knee in the first two minutes of the game at Oklahoma on Sunday. Soares had been dominant in her first 12 games as a Cyclone, averging over 15 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks per contest. You can read statements from Soares and head coach Bill Fennelly, here.
DYNAMITE DONARSKI
Since the schedule turned over to the Big 12 slate, the Cyclones have seen Lexi Donarski increase her scoring load in a big way. The junior has averaged 18.7 points per game across the first three Big 12 games, including a 20-point showing at OU on Sunday. Donarski continues to be one of the top defenders in the country at the same time. In 78 possessions at Oklahoma on Sunday, the opponent Donarski defended only put up four shots on the day, finishing with five points.
