It was a busy offseason for Cyclones in the Association. NBA veterans Georges Niang and Monté Morris are on new teams, while Tyrese Haliburton made his first All-Star appearance and signed a maximum contract extension. Former NBA champion Talen Horton-Tucker is entering a contract year with the Jazz and Lindell Wigginton is back with the Bucks.
Over the summer, a handful of up-and-coming Cyclones participated in NBA preseason action. George Conditt IV (Trailblazers), Izaiah Brockington (Pelicans) and both Gabe Kalscheur (Wizards) and Deonte Burton (Kings) all were part of their respective teams' training camps. Each is expected to play in the G League this season.
With the 2023-24 season beginning tonight for some former Cyclones, let's catch up on how they've been and what's to come in the 2023-24 campaign.
Georges Niang - #20, Cleveland Cavaliers
Entering his eighth season in the NBA, Georges Niang cashed in over the summer, signing a three-year deal worth $26 million with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The 2016 Karl Malone Award Winner spent the past two seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers, where he played in 154 games. Niang averaged 8.7 points over 21 minutes of action, shooting 40.2 percent from behind the three-point line with the 76ers.
A career 40.3% shooter from deep, Niang was brought in to help fill the Cavs' need for scoring off the bench after they fell to the Knicks in the first round of the 2023 playoffs. Georges will help space the floor in Cleveland as he was a top 15 shooter from distance last season.
Oh, and he is also the winningest NBA player of the 2020s.

Monté Morris - #5, Detroit Pistons
A season after being traded from Denver to Washington, Monté Morris was again dealt this offseason, this time to his home state Pistons for a second-round pick. The Flint, Mich., native is entering his seventh year in the Association and is considered one of the best backup point guards in the league.
After spending his first five years in the league with the Nuggets, Morris spent 2022-23 with the Wizards, where he started 61 games, averaging 10.3 points per contest as well as a career-high 5.3 assists. We'd be remiss if we mentioned Monté Morris's stats and we didn't bring up his assist-to-turnover ratio, and surprise, surprise, Morris led all players in the category in 2023 with a 5.4 A/T ratio. Some things truly never change.
**Morris will miss the first few weeks of the season due to a quad injury.

Talen Horton-Tucker - #5, Utah Jazz
One of two players from the ISU 2018 recruiting class in the NBA, Horton-Tucker enters a pivotal contract year with the Jazz. THT began his career with the Lakers, being drafted in the second round of the 2019 draft and winning a bubble championship with the likes of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
After three seasons in LA, where he averaged 9.3 points off the bench, Horton-Tucker was dealt to the Jazz for Pat Beverley, where he spent the entirety of last season. Talen averaged a career-high 10.7 points per contest with 3.2 boards and a career-high 3.8 assists.
Tyrese Haliburton - #0, Indiana Pacers
The other NBA member from the 2018 recruiting class, Haliburton, enters his fourth season in the Association having achieved something only one other Cyclones has. A place in the NBA All-Star game (joining Jeff Hornacek). Niang and Morris weren't the only two former Cyclones to ink new contracts in the offseason, as Haliburton signed a whopping five-year, $260 million maximum contract extension with the Pacers which had him feeling some type of way.

Indiana committed to Tyrese as the face of the franchise and rewarded him as such. In his second season with the Pacers after being traded by the Sacramento Kings, Haliburton averaged 20.7 points per game with 10.4 assists, recording 32 double-doubles on the year, the 15th most in the league. Haliburton will look to build off his all-star season and lead the Pacers back to the playoffs for the first time since 2020.
Lindell Wigginton - #28, Milwaukee Bucks
After spending two seasons in Ames, Wigginton is entering his third season with the Bucks, where he has appeared in 26 NBA games over the past two years as a two-way player. He has mainly played with the Wisconsin Herd, where he put up impressive numbers, averaging 22.3 points, six assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game during the 2022-23 season.
Wigginton will hope to have his two-way contract converted by season's end, as he will battle fellow two-way point guard TyTy Washington for favor in the Bucks' staff as the third PG behind Damian Lillard and Cameron Payne.
