While there were many unknowns entering the season, Iowa State enters Sunday's contest at Drake with a 1-0 record following an 82-55 victory over Butler on Monday. The Cyclones won their 29th-straight home opener, the longest NCAA Division I active streak.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Overall: 32-29
In Des Moines: 12-18
Fennelly vs. Drake: 18-8

FOUR THINGS
1 – Iowa State owns the longest active win streak in season openers in NCAA Division I with 29-straight season opening wins. UConn and Oregon State follow with 28 and 26, respectively.
13 – Iowa State welcomed the No. 13 signing class of 2023 with 2023-24 freshmen Addy Brown (No. 31 in the ESPNw/Hoop Gurlz Class of 2023 rankings), Jalynn Bristow (No. 47), Audi Crooks (No. 57), Arianna Jackson and Kelsey Joens. All five additions ranked in the Jr. All-Star Girls Basketball Top 100.
22 – Iowa State ended a 22-year drought without a Big 12 trophy in March when the Cyclones claimed the 2023 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship trophy. It was the fourth Big 12 trophy of the Fennelly tenure, with ISU claiming a share of the regular season trophy in 2000 and tournament championships in 2000 and 2001.
895 – The Cyclones have made at least one 3-point field goal in an NCAA-record 895 consecutive games, a streak which encapsulates the entirety of the Bill Fennelly Era at Iowa State.
REIGNING FROM THREE
As has been the case for decades, Iowa State is one of the top 3-point shooting teams in the country. Iowa State opened the season with nine 3-pointers, a mark 70 teams in NCAA Division I reached. The Cyclones were in the Top 40 for percentage as well, connecting on nearly 43 percent of their attempts. Kelsey Joens led the ISU effort from deep, canning three triples on six attempts. With nine 3-pointers Monday, it marks the second-highest total for the Cyclones in
a season opener in the last five years. The Cyclones were 12th in the country at 8.8 3-pointers per game in 2022-23. That effort was led in part by Ashley Joens, who had a team-high 89 3-pointers and led the Big 12 in 3-pointers per game (2.78).

LEADING AT THE LINE
Iowa State has finished with a team free throw percentage above .750 in 10 of the last 11 seasons. Last season, the Cyclones finished 468-of-583 (.803) at the charity stripe for the second-highest percentage in NCAA Division I. It also marked the third-straight season of a free throw percentage above .800.
