Ames, Iowa - In the spirit of giving this holiday season, the Iowa State Men's Basketball program is partnering with UScellular by giving the "Gift of Connection." The Cyclones and UScellular encourage all fans to bring a new and unwrapped sports item, art supplies, or family games to the Sunday, December 17 men's game against Florida A&M at 5 p.m.
Donations collected during the game will be gifted to YSS of Story County ensuring that children in the community have the opportunity to experience the joy of the holiday season. Donation bins will be placed at the north, west, and south entrances to Hilton Coliseum and doors open 60 minutes prior to tipoff.
"YSS is honored to partner with UScellular and Cyclone Sports Properties to bring joy to Iowa's youth and families this holiday season," said Andrew Allen, President and CEO of YSS. "Together, we're making a meaningful difference in our community and we're deeply grateful to all those who help us create hope and opportunity."
The toy drive is a part of UScellular's overall game sponsorship and partnership with Iowa State Athletics. In addition to the toy drive, from among more than 400 entries, two local fourth grade boys' basketball teams were selected as the winners of the Halftime Hoops at Hilton sweepstakes. The selected teams, Ballard Bombers and Southeast Valley Jags, will play on the famed Hilton Coliseum hardwood at halftime of the men's game vs. FAMU.
"UScellular is a proud sponsor of Iowa State University Athletics and is committed to the communities we serve in central Iowa and across the state," said Monique Moore, director of sales for UScellular in central Iowa. "The basketball game will be a great opportunity for fans to come together and we encourage any donations to benefit a worthy cause."
