MINNEAPOLIS -- The Iowa State divers finished out on the 3-meter boards on day one of the NCAA Zone 'D' Diving Championships.
During the preliminaries, freshman Ally Blumenfeld took the lead for the team with a score of 255.40 for 34th place.The highlight of Blumenfeld's day was a 52.65 on her fifth dive of the day, an inward 2 1/2 somersault tuck.
Jayna Misra and Kate Mitchell followed behind with 35th and 36th place finishes, respectively. Misra secured a score of 253.40 while Mitchell earned 252.25. Misra's best dive was also her inward 2 1/2 somersault tuck, which she scored a 48.60. Mitchell's best effort came on her third dive, a back 2 1/2 somersault tuck that scored her 51.80 points.
Joscelyn Buss closed out the day with a 40th place finish of 247.85. Buss did finish the day on a high note, with her back 1 1/2 somersault 2 1/2 twist free on her final day scoring a 50.40.
The competition continues tomorrow as the Cyclones will perform on the 1-meter boards starting at 11 a.m. Live results will be posted on DiveMeets.com and live streaming can be found on BTN+.
