Cyclone Dance Team Wins Pom Division National Championship

AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State dance team added a fourth national championship in the Division 1A Pom category last week in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Led by head coach Jill Petersen, the Cyclones finished second in the preliminary round behind James Madison University. ISU finished ahead of JMU by 0.12 points in the finals to secure its fourth title.
Dance team members at the event included: Bella Arpy, Megan Broomfield, Sophia Chiodo, Mia DeVries, Olivia Dittmar, Kennedi Dyro, Mercedes Frisby, Emma Hodges, Rachel Maucieri, Charlotte Miller, Michelle Morford, Mia Neaderhiser, Grace Nicholson, Lauren Retka, Cale Schmitz, Kyla Sheridan, Sydney Sherwood, Julia Solomon, Jenni Terry, Sydney Wallick, Kenna Yordy and Olivia Ziesmer.
The team was coached by Petersen, Breanna Logan, Danielle Myers and Kelsie Vertanen.
Additionally, the dance team finished third in the D1A Team category and fourth in the D1A Jazz categorty.
The Cyclone cheer team had a strong week with the All-Girl Team earning fourth place nationally and the Co-Ed Team finishing sixth.
Cy finished seventh out of 12 mascots in the competition.
