AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis program has announced the signing of Ukraine native Alina Tsyurpalevych.
Tsyurpalevych, who was born in Spain but grew up in Lviv, Ukraine, had a high ITF junior ranking of 153. She won three ITF junior tournaments and was a finalist in three other tournaments.
"We're really excited to have Alina join our program," associate head coach Kenna Kilgo said. "She will bring a level of experience and maturity to our group that will continue to help us grow. I believe she's the perfect fit and we can't wait to get her here."
Tsyurpalevych, who will be a graduate student at Iowa State, picked Iowa State because it offered the perfect combination of athletics and academics.
"I chose Iowa State because of the level of tennis and the education is very good," Tsyurpalevych said. "I'm glad that I will be able to study, play tennis and develop at Iowa State. I'm extremely happy and ready for these years at Iowa State."
