AMES, Iowa – Former Iowa State player and current New York Jets player Allen Lazard is the recipient of the 2023 Robert D. and Billie Ray Pillar of Character Award by the Robert D. and Billie Ray Center at Drake University.
Lazard, an Urbandale, Iowa, native, played at Iowa State from 2014-17 and has spent six seasons in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Green Bay Packers. He recently signed with the New York Jets. In his NFL career, Lazard has 169 receptions and 20 touchdown catches.
As a Cyclone, Lazard finished his career with a then-school record 241 receptions, while he still holds the school record with 3,360 career yards and ranks second all-time with 26 touchdown receptions.
Lazard received the honor from the Robert D. and Billie Ray Center thanks to his commitment to giving back to his community.
Lazard's nonprofit organization, At The Top, focuses on supporting veterans. He also spends time with pediatric patients at his hospitals and hosts youth camps, as well as other activities to support youth in Iowa.
Lazard will be honored at An All-Star Evening on April 14 at the Ron Pearson Center in West Des Moines. Tickets are still available for purchase by visiting the Ray Center website.
