Porter An Allstate AFCA Good Works Team Nominee

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State senior defensive back Darien Porter is a nominee for the 2023 Allstate American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Good Works Team.
Porter, a Bettendorf, Iowa, native, was nominated for his efforts in the community, while also maintaining good grades and earning academic honors. He has volunteered for many different organizations, including Meals from the Heartland, YSS and Miracle League, during his time on the Iowa State football team.
Porter has played in 40 games in his career. In 2022, he switched from wide receiver to defensive back and finished with 15 tackles. A special teams standout, Porter also blocked a punt against Oklahoma State.
The final 22-member team and honorary coach are selected by a voting panel of former Allstate AFCA Good Works Team members, current and former head coaches and journalists. They look for exceptional leadership on and off the football field.
