Brock Purdy became just the second Iowa State quarterback to start week one of an NFL season Sunday with a 30-7 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Purdy went 19-for-29 for 220 yards and two touchdowns. Purdy remains perfect in the regular season as a starter with the win over the Steelers marking his sixth consecutive victory. This was the first game back for Purdy after an elbow injury forced him to leave the 2023 NFC Championship game in the first quarter.

The Monday Night Football clash between New York and Buffalo featured three Cyclones, all playing for the Jets. Second-year running back Breece Hall was the standout in this game rushing for 127 yards on 10 carries, including one rush that went for 83 yards. Monday marked the first game for Hall since a torn ACL left him unable to play most of what was a promising rookie season. Allen Lazard led the Jets in receiving yards in his first game for the organization with two receptions going for 46 yards. His receptions included a 24 yard pickup on third down that eventually would lead to the Jets game tying touchdown in the 4th quarter. 2023 first-round pick Will McDonald recorded one tackle in his rookie debut as he looks to break into one of the best defensive lines in the NFL after promising performances in his first training camp. The Jets beat the Bills 22-16 in overtime with a punt returned for a touchdown.
Next Up: The Jets will travel to Dallas to play the Cowboys this Sunday at 3:25 P.M.
