AMES, Iowa - Keshon Gilbert has been named the Cyclone Club Athlete of the Week after leading Iowa State men's basketball to wins over Kansas State and No. 7 Kansas last week.
Gilbert was the only player in the country to average 15.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.0 assists last week.
Against Kansas State, Gilbert turned in his second career double-double with 15 points and a career-best 13 rebounds. The St. Louis native also tallied three steals and an assist in his 34 minutes against the Wildcats.
Gilbert was clutch in Iowa State's 79-75 victory Saturday against the Jayhawks. With 41 seconds remaining in the game and the Cyclones clinging to a two-point lead, he drained a step-back three-pointer from the top of the key to seal the win and bring Hilton Coliseum to its feet.
The junior guard finished the game with 16 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Iowa State men's basketball is off for a week before traveling to Baylor next Saturday, Feb. 3. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. (CT) on ESPN2.
